Health and Safety Policy

As an engineering company, it is the responsibility of Seahorse Energy® to provide safe and reliable products and services to the industry.  In addition, we consider the safety of our employees, suppliers, and customers as mission critical.  We strive for continuous improvement through disciplined lessons learned processes and rigorous documentation so that we are better tomorrow than we are today.

We believe that health and safety improvements are not achieved by fancy slogans or improvement initiatives that come and go.  Rather, at Seahorse Energy®, we conduct all our activities with safety and health in mind—a safety oriented culture whereby competing commitments never push safety to the back.  This is supported by every person at Seahorse Energy®.

We are also extremely sensitive to the impact our designs and activities can have on the environment and the general public.  Our engineers sweat the fine details that don’t make the front page of the trade journals.  Details like full material certifications on critical components, lifting plans and properly placed lifting attach points, consideration of pinch points, and redundant sealing systems for discharge control—to name a few.

One final philosophy used every day at Seahorse Energy®.  We are a firm believer that health and safety is not improved through the exclusive use of personal protection equipment (PPE).  It is improved through the elimination of potential hazards.  We spend a considerable amount of time performing hazard and operation studies (HAZOP) and similar processes to predict and eliminate safety and health risks.

To achieve the health and safety objectives, we perform the following:

  • Leadership participation at all times
  • Reward health and safety efforts
  • Implement continuous improvement processes and monitor performance
  • Review and audit activities of our suppliers to ensure they are consistent with our policies
  • Maintain and review safety records on a routine basis
