Tool Trap

The Tool Trap is designed to provide a non-pressure containing barrier at the seabed during wireline operations through a slotted flapper valve design. It can be manually opened and closed.

The slot allows the wireline to pass through it, but not the tool. In this way, the Tool Trap will stop the tool from passing through it on the way in the hole. The tool can then be “zeroed”, the Tool Trap opened, and the wireline tool can pass through.

After passing through, the Tool Trap can be closed. With an internal ID of 7” and a rating of 10,000 psi, the design of the tool trap is to fit into existing systems via flanking 9”, 10M API flanges. Start to finish, delivery of the Tool Trap was 6 months.
